On this particular summer day,
I headed for the beach
With grandchildren in tow
to do everything within our reach.
We prepared some sandwiches,
fruit and drinks for a bit of lunch.
As we ate the seagulls flew in
and they, too, enjoyed some brunch.
When you throw a piece of bread,
gulls often will catch it in flight;
But when you place it on the sand,
usually there’s a huge fight.
It’s always interesting to see
which one is brave or needy.
Or is it just that he’s the one,
that only is most greedy.
