I may get older,
but I won’t get old.
I may tell stories
fifty times told;
I may leak places
like a well-used house,
or wrinkle and fade
like a favorite blouse;
but the child inside
you sometimes see
is the largest, undying
spirit of me.
So if I rock my rocker
and stare into space,
I’m likely playing
in some favorite place...
Yet love and companions
will always bring joy,
and good conversation
my favorite toy.
