The year was almost
At an end,
When we opened an
Espresso shop
By way of a company known
As Blue Mountain Vendors.
“I crossed with the
waterman this morning,”
said our friend,
who arrived at our new Café.
I kept my voice above
a whisper, “we’re calling this
place the Café Flores.”
A place so important it
seemed to embody a nation.
One evening, by the light
from the gas lamp the bar
seemed almost strangely
western.
