Remember when the corn grew
because we blew on it?
when the moon idled fry
in search of her gold -
when stars told stories
we heard every night;
and shells washed up around our feet
as promised in dreams ...
Remember when the goddess breathed
in the voice of the grass,
in the willows' song,
and through the soles of our feet –
when magic was just another language
we learned at birth;
we knew who we were,
and that we were born of two mothers
grown in one womb, and raised in another.
love was in every beat of our hearts,
echo'd in the rings of trees, and swallows wings.
This cradle earth was gifted us,
and we owe fidelity with every breath.
Remember how we loved, and were loved,
when beauty sang in our bones,
and our souls knew life was forever.
