Groundwaters Magazine was started by Judy Hays-Eberts, our foundress emerita. Her vision was to have the magazine always as a gift to the public, borne out of the desire to help others share in whatever creative way their spirit took them.
She and her husband Sonny continue to share the Groundwaters ideals at the original website, www.groundwaters.org.
We come from various backgrounds, but all share a love of the written word and the arts.
The "Head" of Groundwaters Publishing, Pat specializes in historical non-fiction. She's the author of From Sawdust to Cider to Wine, a book detailing in depth the history of the Lorane Valley and its early settlers. See her website at www.sawdustandcider.com
or contact her at contact@groundwaters.org
Jen is a creative fiction writer and has been shopping around for an agent for her first novel, centering around people with traumatic brain injuries. She is also a talented essayist.
Pat B. is the priceless editor we couldn't live without! She's the one who catches most of the details, etc. the rest of us overlook. Pat also writes fiction, non-fiction, and book reviews.
Our newest staff member brings to GW Publishing a broad background in business. He can explain all the technical stuff- one important guy to know. Jim writes wonderful fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Sonny's passion is saving knowledge before it is lost, like with the fascinating WWII letters and stories he preserves for our "Moments of Valor" series.
"Your spring issue is wonderful; it keeps improving with age. Please encourage Nick to continue his comics. He's an emerging talent....
Too many fine writers at Groundwaters to comment on them all. Just keep those issues coming."- Sylvia Beltran, Elmira
"I love this whole issue of Groundwaters! I don't even know where to begin to comment- but you know me, I'll just go at it.
'The Apricot Tree'- what a moving story and so well written.
'Children have no choice'- from tears to smiles to prayer in one poem-so touched me....
Pat Broome's "Roads Taken" I thotoughly enjoyed- her writing is done so well- so thought-out and complete. I look forward to reading moe of her life.
Pat Edwards' 'Tribute to Tom Page' was great! I knew nothing of him personally before and feel he has finally recieved some recognition for years of faithfulness at the News. thank Groundwaters for that!
'The Gift,' was so sweet and when i read about the writer, i was stunned to read of her husband's death. Now, that was a gift, to write 'as if!"
'Two teachers wore a dozen hats'- one can't imagine wearing all the hats they did-wow! It's hard to beleve we expected so much of teachers- how versitile and creative one would have to be, but also how fulfilling- i'd love to read the book-so please keep us posted.
'The flour sack'- can't wait till my mom reads this-she's often talked about how versitile it was, but i didn't dream-I loved it!
'Camp Adair'- it staggers the imagination of how many unsung heroes there are. I love Sonny's tributes.
What can I say about Jennifer Chambers? Is there anything she can't write about? Waht a gifted writer. I can see her writing books, writing for television, movies. She will go far.
When Shekinah, my daughter (now almost 5) saw that picture of you (Judy) as a young girl in your cowgirl hat- said 'that's me!' I had to explain other girls had cowgirl hats too. But it's amazing how similar one can look in some costumes and similar hairsty;les and as children.
As i said, love love, this issue of Groundwaters! this was the best so far. -Pat Gill, Cheshire
